Happiness is achieved for you, walking
thus, on the edge of a knife blade.
To our eyes you are a wavering gleam,
afoot, tense ice that fractures;
so who loves you most cannot touch you.
If you come upon spirits invaded
with sadness and brighten them, your morning
is sweet and troubled like the nests on high.
But nothing compensates for the cry of the child
whose ball is in flight among the houses.

— Eugenio Montale, Felicità raggiunta, si cammina (circa 1924)

A table and poetry meet one each other. The reason why is the embedded sculpture: a steel made knife, with glass footprints remembering the poem of which the table is inspired. Happiness is this: you can reach and mantain it only thanks to an extreme and decidous balance.Eugenio Montale (1896-1981) is one of the masters of the italian hermetic poetry. His work is focused on the word. According to him it reveals things. So poetry becomes being's language, as some philosophical theories were demonstrating in the same years.This table from the collection "Italian Poets" is made by cutting water jets. It is held by trapezoidal metal hand polished elements, cut by spark erosion. The shape of the table is irregular, with a linear asymmetric chamfering.The table can be made to measure, according to specific customer requirements.
